9 ways to face the jobs of the future

Today there is a lot of talk about work: what will the future of work be, and what will be the jobs of the future?

There is talk of automation and the millions of jobs that will make us lose, we are talking about the crisis: in short, a great catchphrase that goes on with sentences made and clichés.

This article aims to understand what skills, arts and talents are needed to navigate this new world.

Navigate keeping in mind that there is this layer of digital, which presses and oppresses, forcing everyone to deal with it, even those who criticize it and would like to keep it away, which deny its importance, because they are skeptical, suspicious, not interested. Of course, this technological world can be uncomfortable, because it is constantly evolving, it never stops, it causes changes that cost effort, sweat, trauma, breakages.

Communication as a strategic skill

Communication is an art and a science, and must be learned, but not as something purely theoretical, because on the contrary it is very practical and you learn on the field. Basically you have to get your hands dirty.

Usually those who deal with communication have a very rigid and rigorous attitude, while in reality we have platforms run by young people who have no marketing or communication training and are depopulated. And they are successful because they are smart, not just because they make kitten videos!

Learn to make decisions

This is the big secret: knowing how to make good decisions and having a method that allows us to make them.

There are techniques, strategies, examples that I tried to summarize, with the idea that it is important to decide quickly and continue to train the muscle of decisions to always make better ones.

If, for example, when we were to decide how to invest money, we found Warren Buffett next to us, do we not have absolute certainty that he would decide better than the rest of the planet?

The big effort to make is this: to be able to make better decisions, because it is much easier to reason and arrive at correct conclusions when you are able to make good decisions.

Don’t be afraid to start over

We must continually start over, never sit down, always leave as if it were the first day. It’s not easy, it’s uncomfortable, it doesn’t come naturally, but after a while you get used to it.

We have to think in the long term, in the long run, because this way of thinking will reward us. Stop using miserable techniques to bring traffic to our site for six months, only to be able to monetize a bit and then disappear from the face of the earth.

It is difficult to start over, especially because it is much more comfortable to believe and hope that things will remain the same forever, but it does not work that way. For example, when I realized that Facebook was in decline (and I had a million people following me there), it took me a while to change, I didn’t like the idea of ​​having to start from scratch on a other platform!

I speak from personal experience, I have no magic formulas or secret recipes, I tell you what happens to me: every day I receive tons of proposals, offers of collaboration, of any kind, with any type of subject. Every day I could launch a different company, there are infinite possibilities.

As I always say, “work is not sought, but attracted”.

The irrationality that leads you to get different results

Irrationality is important: it is a positive force.

I see a lot of automatons and puppets around, if you want to play certain roles and execute someone’s orders, that’s fine; but when the sector changes and your company leaves you at home, you must have an irrationality threshold to make different choices that will allow you to obtain different results.

There are no rational choices, which lead you to do things different from others, and this is something that should be considered.

The difference between competence and information

If you are not competent, whatever activity you do, it does not work.

If you are a drone driver and you are incapable, the drone crashes, that’s the truth! People want to have visibility, money, popularity, without paying the price of competence, which, alas, takes time.

There is often confusion, because sometimes it seems that competence can be reached quickly, but information is one thing, execution is another story.

You must take full responsibility (not blame, attention!) For what the future of your work will be. When you do that, you move and activate yourself differently.

It’s easy to blame someone else for not finding work or having no customers. This is a way of conceiving the world, of seeing life, which I do not marry. I marry a way in which I take full responsibility.

It is not my fault if a customer does not pay, but I have the responsibility to decide whether to deal with it or not, to have chosen it, to have accepted that type of collaboration.

As an entrepreneur it can only be this way, and it is an important mental transition for anyone who wants to face the world of work: if in front of a new platform that comes out, for example, I snub and refuse it, perhaps because it is considered for children, you must however take responsibility for that choice, with all the consequences of the case (if the platform in question explodes and you have not taken advantage of it, while your competitor does, it is your responsibility).

It is important to be there

For me it is a mantra: a continuous presence that makes the difference. Once there is quality and competence, it is important to be there. Always, every day. It is a matter of saying: for the next five years I will be on that platform every day, because there is so much competition.
Sure it’s tiring, it requires budgets, people, but it’s important, if you consider your online reputation important.
